Pentagram has launched Overlooked, an exhibition of London鈥檚 street covers. The show follows the success of the 听Pentagram Paper听by the same name and is听an exploration into the gatekeepers of London鈥檚 underground world as iconic pieces of industrial design.
The Overlooked exhibition ran for two days in late September 2016 as part of and was hosted by Protein Studios in Shoreditch. A limited run of Overlooked posters were screen printed for purchase at the exhibition, and proved so popular that further runs are still available online.
The exhibition launched a new series of rubbings which place different neon street covers on top of each other for the first time. Each cover has been painstakingly reproduced using the process of brass rubbing鈥攁 practice traditionally applied to religious objects. This technique of the devout has been used celebrate the beauty of industrial craftsmanship, uncovering its details, nuances and decorative flourishes.
