The graphic designer and art director has joined Pentagram London.

We are thrilled to announce that Hugh Miller has joined the London office as a partner. As a graphic designer and art director, Hugh is recognised for combining clarity of thought with creative rigour across a wide range of projects, from strategy for global brands to visual identities for start-ups, museums and cultural institutions.

Most recently, Hugh worked within the Human-Centred Design innovation unit at Ford. Previously, he was part of the brand teams at Nokia and Microsoft, and co-founded the London office of international design studio BOND. While at Spin, he contributed to projects such as the Whitechapel Gallery identity and campaigns for Nike, MTV and the Haunch of Venison Gallery.

Hugh’s work has earned recognition from D&AD, the Type Directors Club and the  International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD). His record sleeve design for SO/LO’s At the End of the World, Plant a Tree won the inaugural Freda Sack Award from the International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD). Earlier this year, he was named one of Creative Boom’s ‘20 Most Inspiring Graphic Designers for 2025.’

Hugh has an extensive design archive and an inquisitive approach that continues to fuel his work. He is a visiting lecturer at Kingston School of Art and the University of Greenwich, serves on the board of the ISTD, and is a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI).

Pentagram partner Paula Scher commented: “We are all so delighted and excited that Hugh Miller is joining Pentagram. Hugh brings tremendous expertise to Pentagram that stretches from large beautifully handled corporate projects to cultural works of immense beauty and wit.†Matt Willey added: “Hugh’s work always feels so effortless to me; sophisticated and timeless, intelligent and beautiful. He’s just a wonderful designer and, much more importantly, a lovely human. We’re extremely lucky to have him.â€

Hugh joins Pentagram at a pivotal moment as the London office moves into a new three-storey studio in the heart of Islington, N1. “It’s an exciting time to be joining Pentagram,†he said. “The new space brings renewed energy and opportunities to build new connections. I’m looking forward to contributing to the culture and continuing my craft on an even bigger platform.â€
