‘H’

Design for a book by influential hair stylist Guido Palau and photographer David Sims that highlights hair as a transformative medium.

The minimal layout sets off the incredible variety of hair styles.
The book's design is inspired by traditions of portraiture.
Conor Skilbeck, left, with an essay by Tim Blanks.

Many of Guido’s styles look to the past as they set a vision of the future, and the designers wanted to create a format that would accommodate this incredible spectrum of references, from punk to Renaissance and Northern European portraiture.

Peter Cairns.
Hanne Gaby Odiele, left. An interview of Guido Palau by Tim Blanks runs throughout the book, right.

Retrospective: Shakespeare in the Park

In 1954, impresario Joe Papp began a summer tradition of staging free outdoor performances of Shakespeare, inaugurating the Public Theater’s beloved Shakespeare in the Park festival. Pentagram partner Paula Scher, whose relationship with the Public spans four decades, has designed a new identity for the series for thirty consecutive summers. Each campaign is customized to the season’s theme, creating a highly visible graphic vocabulary for outdoor advertising, social media, and on-site signage.
