On Thursday, students in Natalie Brown’s sixth-grade social studies class at William S. Hackett Middle School tackled the big ideas of enduring issues – challenges that societies have faced and debated throughout history.
Working in groups, the students analyzed photos to uncover examples of scarcity, conflict, trade, technology, cultural diffusion and human-environment interaction.
. Over the coming weeks, they’ll keep exploring, discussing and writing about these timeless topics. Serious thinking from some sharp sixth-graders!
