Big thinkers on big issues

Two students mull over photos

On Thursday, students in Natalie Brown’s sixth-grade social studies class at William S. Hackett Middle School tackled the big ideas of enduring issues –  challenges that societies have faced and debated throughout history.

Working in groups, the students analyzed photos to uncover examples of scarcity, conflict, trade, technology, cultural diffusion and human-environment interaction.

. Over the coming weeks, they’ll keep exploring, discussing and writing about these timeless topics. Serious thinking from some sharp sixth-graders!
