Introducing the Falcon Market
On Dec. 12, we celebrated the expanded and newly christened Falcon Market, an inviting space that includes a free clothing boutique and food pantry that will provide reliable access to fresh food for our Albany High students and their families. The Falcon Market is open on school days, Monday–Thursday from 3:30-5 p.m. and Friday from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Give yourself and your loved ones the gift of looking gorgeous this holiday season! Our cosmetology and barbering students can't wait to host our annual Holiday Spa Day, which will take place on Saturday, Dec. 20, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. to see the full list of services available. Kick off the new year with Curriculum Night!
Save the date for our Curriculum Night at Albany High, which will take place on Jan. 7 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Curriculum Night is an exciting evening designed to highlight all of the amazing course offerings we have at Albany High for our students currently in grades 8-11. Dynamic learning experiences
Our Falcons experience incredible learning experiences both in and out of the classroom here at Albany High! Here's a round up of fabulous lessons our Falcons have recently enjoyed:
- Last Wednesday, 16 students in Christopher Austen's Business Concepts class visited GlobalFoundries in Malta, a leading semiconductor manufacturer. During their tour, they explored various roles, observing yield engineers, repair technicians, environmental and health safety professionals and others in action.
- On Tuesday, students in Colleen Multer's Business Math class participated in an interactive lesson on financial literacy led by guest presenter Michelle Lavoy of First New York Federal Credit Union.
- On Thursday, our students had an incredible opportunity to engage with community leaders who are working to make positive changes here in Albany and beyond at our civics fair.
Spotlight on sports
This week, it was exciting to see our and compete at home matches.

In boys' swimming, Daniel Levy placed second in the 500 Free with a time of 5:50.24. and Luca Raveendranath placed second in the 100 Free with a time of 1:08.36.

In bowling, Senior Colin Paulsen led the way with an outstanding series of 683 (245–268–170). Junior Garrison Goldman also delivered a strong performance, rolling a 605 series (243–183–179).
All student-athletes playing winter sports are reminded to mark their calendars for winter sports photos, which will take place on Jan. 10 and 14. Details are available in this news story.

We love seeing our Falcons get into the holiday spirit! Our Best Buddies club took a wonderful field trip to see the holiday lights at Quick Response in Malta and our NYSAA students brought lots o' joy with their on Dec. 18!

Last chance to book your senior portraits!
Class of 2026, this coming week is the last chance to get your senior portraits taken here at Albany High. Appointments will be available Monday, Dec. 15–Friday, Dec. 19 and are on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage seniors to book their session as soon as possible to get their preferred date and time.

Congrats to our fall scholar-athletes!
The New York State Public High School Athletic Association has announced its fall scholar-athlete individuals and teams.
We are thrilled to share the wonderful news that 97 student-athletes who play for Albany Athletics at the high school level had a 90 or above grade-point average and will receive pins for their scholastic achievements!
Additionally, seven of our fall teams earned the Scholar-Athlete Team Award, with the average GPA of the top 75% of the roster being 90 or greater.

December Spirit Week
Get ready for some festive fun this coming week as we celebrate December Spirit Week at Albany High! Our Student Government has created themes that will make our last full week of classes in 2025 extra merry and bright. Spread some joy with your creative attire and show us that Falcon pride!

Our Albany High musicians wowed friends and loved ones with an incredible evening of music at our winter concert on Wednesday evening! of their memorable performance on our Facebook page!
Winter sports are heating up
Our Falcons are already bringing the heat this winter season with some incredible performances!
Our boys' and girls' indoor track team had their first competition of the season at Hudson Valley Community College on Dec. 6. Check out this news story to read all the highlights, and be sure to visit our Facebook page to see and in action!
On the basketball court, Albany High senior Sincere Allah was nominated for Times Union athlete of the week for boys' sports. Sincere poured in 32 points in a narrow loss to Beacon on Saturday, tying a school record with eight 3-pointers. He shot an incredible 8-for-12 from long distance to equal the school record for made 3s set by Isaiah Austin in 2022. Learn more by checking out this news story.

Mandatory Ski Club Meeting: Monday, Dec. 15
Falcons, if you signed up to hit the slopes with the Albany High Ski Club this winter, please make sure to attend the mandatory meeting on Monday, Dec. 15 at 3:30 p.m. in room 1311. If you are unable to attend, please reach out to Mr. Vacanti at tvacanti@albany.k12.ny.us or at (518) 290-6613. Students who have not yet signed up for ski club, but are still interested in participating, are welcome to attend as we still have some spots available.

As we approach the new year, we are excited invite you to save the date for our Curriculum Night at Albany High, which will take place on Jan. 7 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Curriculum Night is an exciting evening designed to highlight all of the amazing course offerings we have at Albany High for our students currently in grades 8-11. The goal of this gathering is to support our families as students prepare to work with their guidance counselors to create their schedule for the coming academic year, keeping in mind post-secondary college/career plans.
