As we prepare for our winter athletic season, we wanted to share reminders about the City School District of Albany’s Interscholastic Athletics Code of Conduct, and our Academic Eligibility Policy in particular.
To participate in athletics, students must be academically in good standing. For the start of the winter season, those determinations are based on each student-athlete’s grades during the first marking period of the school year, which closes Nov. 7.
You can find the full Interscholastic Athletics Code of Conduct and additional details in our , which explain our expectations for all student-athletes.
As an Athletic Department and school district, our goal is to ensure that all student-athletes understand the importance of academic achievement and are supported in their growth in the classroom and their chosen sport. To assist any student who may need academic support, is available at Albany High School, Monday through Thursday from 3:30-5 p.m. This will continue for the full school year and is open to all students.
We also are dedicating two tutors and home school coordinators who will support Athletics and help provide academic support, communication and coordination for our student-athletes and families. Our department and coaching staff will continue to communicate directly with student-athletes and families to clarify expectations and share information about available academic resources. We remain committed to partnering with our students and you to ensure academic success throughout the year.
We are looking forward to an exciting winter season and to celebrating the hard work and
achievements of all our student-athletes.
